If you attend the Pismo Beach ISA World Para-Surfing Championships hosted by AmpSurf, you are in for a real treat. Last year’s event was an incredible endeavor, well attended, and truly awestriking. People from all over the world competed in many events geared toward athletes’ particular abilities. The overriding theme, “Focus on what these athletes CAN do,” touched our hearts and lifted our spirits. The coaches, fans, family members, and observers cheered on their athletes with great enthusiasm and pride. And the folks in wetsuits in and out of the cold Pacific Ocean, monitoring and assisting the competing athletes—well, words cannot express how incredibly selfless the volunteers were. You’ve GOT to see this event for yourself.
Opening Ceremonies will be held on December 3, as well as a Learn to Surf Clinic. Contest heats will begin on December 4, and continue daily, and after the last heats on December 11, the Closing Medals Ceremony will take place at Pier Plaza. Come out to enjoy watching top Para Surfers from all over the world proudly represent their home nations and compete for the Gold. Additionally, we can always use more volunteers.
