On September 11th, AmpSurf will hold its annual 9/11 Paddle Out in Pismo Beach on the Southside of the Pismo Beach Pier from 7 am to 11 am.  The 9/11 Paddle Out honors those who lost their lives that day, those who have passed since defending our freedoms, both overseas and here at home, and those that live on, carrying the scars of sacrifice. Sign up at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/ampsurf-sept-11911-memorial-paddle-out-pismo-beach-ca-registration-371715871177

All are invited to attend on shore or in the water. Those going into the water must bring their own surf gear, including surfboard and wetsuit, and if assistance is required, make arrangements for your own helpers. You must be able to get in and out of the water for the event on your own or with your own helpers. Commemorative AmpSurf 9/11 Paddle out t-shirts will be for sale online and at the event.

Paddle Outs Are Surfing’s Most Hallowed (and Beautiful) Ritual. … Surfers around the world practice this ritual, known as a memorial paddle out, usually to honor the life of a fallen comrade. Participants enter the water together and float on the surface, hands linked one by one to form a circle. This circle represents the way in which the ocean brings people together.

AmpSurf’s mission is to Promote, Inspire, Educate, and Rehabilitate (PIER™) all people with disabilities and their families through adaptive surfing and other outdoor activities to keep them focused on their abilities, and not their disabilities. Please email us at surf@ampsurf.org if you have questions.
