On Saturday, February 14th. From 9:30am to 2pm (NOTE: this is a date change from February 7th), Pismo Beach celebrates their brightest and most graceful inhabitants with the California Western Monarch Day Celebration.
Every October, thousands of butterflies travel to Pismo Beach, seeking shelter from the winter cold in the north, resting here until early March. In their honor, the Pismo Beach Monarch Grove will be alive with butterfly talks, educational booths for adults, art activities for kids, and thousands of magical Monarchs clustered in the eucalyptus trees throughout the grove. The Monarch Butterfly count can reach an astounding 30,000. There’s no better time to visit the grove with the whole family than right now!
The grove will be open throughout the entire month of February from 10am- 4 pm with docents providing two daily informational talks at 11am and 2 pm.
