Create Something Fun as You Reduce, Reuse and Recycle!

Friday, April 22, is Earth Day. It’s been 52 years since its inception! Here are some fun facts, courtesy of WeAreTeachers.com:

  • Earth Day is a special day to celebrate Planet Earth.

  • Earth Day began in the US and was first celebrated in 1970.

  • Earth Day is always celebrated on April 22.

  • Earth Day began to be recognized globally in 1990.

  • Earth Day is also known as International Mother Earth Day.

What better way to celebrate Earth Day and cherish our Mother Earth than by getting outside in beautiful Pismo Beach. There are so many things to see and do. Bring along a bag and a pair of gloves in case you happen upon some litter to pick up and dispose of properly.  When enjoying Mother Earth with your canine companions at our many dog friendly places, always be a responsible pet owner by picking up after your pups.  Mother Earth will thank you, and all of us will benefit from your stewardship!

How about sending away for native California milkweed seeds or locating plants to help bring back larger numbers of Monarch Butterflies? According to Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation, it’s best to locate locally sourced milkweed seeds and plants. Plant some native drought tolerant plants around your yard or local school, especially those that attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.
