Basin Street Regulars presents the most ambitious of band line-ups ever featured at the Jazz Jubilee by the Sea in Pismo Beach. The theme remains “It’s New Orleans on the Central Coast,” and the feature tent is located on the Pacific Ocean in Pismo Beach. The festival has grown to include the neighboring city of Arroyo Grande for 3 Days, 5 venues, with over 25 bands from October 25-28, 2018.
This year, the festival features two bands that have never played a West Coast festival including Syncopated Times writer, Adrian Cunningham, formerly of Australia and now performing in New York City, will bring his Old School Band to the West Coast for the first time.
The other new band will be the Shake ‘Em Up Jazz Band from New Orleans. This all-woman jazz showcase was formed in New Orleans and draws on the talents of prior Jubilee favorites Molly Reeves, and Chloe Feoranzo along with new musicians Marla Dixon, Defne “Dizzy” Incirlioglu and Julie Schexnayder.
A returning favorite from New Orleans is Tom Hook and the Terriers. This band was last seen at the Jubilee in 2015, and they were a tremendous hit.
Back by popular demand, is the Blue Street Jazz Band. Absent from the 2017 festival, Blue Street is returning with gusto, featuring their full line-up of musicians and the irreverent arrangements and humor that made them famous.
Returning back to the Jubilee stages will be The Au Brothers, Justin, Brandon and Gordon. These brothers are usually joined by their uncle, Howard Miyata from High Sierra, and the results are good old fashioned family fun.
