2022 Pismo Beach ISA World Para-Surfing Championship
The 2022 Pismo Beach ISA World Para-Surfing Championships Hosted by AmpSurf™ will be held Dec. 3rd-12th, 2022. There will be a learn to surf clinic and Opening Ceremonies on Dec. 3rd, Contest heats will run Dec. 4th-11th, and the closing will happen right after the last heats finish on Dec. 11th.
This event will again bring the top Para Surfers from around the world to Pismo beach to compete for world champion. These athletes will be representing their home nations to claim the gold for not only themselves, but their nation as well.
Each day will highlight the skill, power and performance of competitors surfing in the 9 Para Surf Divisions as recognized by the International Surfing Association, (ISA) the governing body for Olympic Surfing as recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IPC)
AmpSurf™, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established to Promote, Inspire, Educate, and Rehabilitate (PIER) all people with disabilities and their families through adaptive surfing and other outdoor activities will host this amazing event again this year in partnership with the beautiful city of Pismo Beach.
Dec. 1st & 2nd – Event Set up starts and 400+ Athletes, Coaches and Trainers from 32+ countries will be coming into the Pismo Beach area. We need volunteers for help with set up, getting countries and their teams checked in…. We’ll need volunteers for set-up, booth support, night security and more.
Dec. 3rd – We will be starting the day with an AmpSurf Learn to Surf Therapy Clinic (7am-12pm) for local people living with disabilities, Veterans and First Responders. We’ll need Instructors, Water assist, beach support booth help and more.
Dec. 3rd – After the Clinic finishes we will have a symposium at the Inn At the Pier on Athlete Classification and Adaptive Board Design from 2:30-5pm
Dec. 4th – We will gather morning (8am) in the Pismo Beach Plaza to set up for the Parade of Nations and Opening Ceremonies (1pm) to kick off the 2022 Pismo Beach ISA World Para-Surfing Championships Hosted by AmpSurf™. All 400+ athletes, coaches and trainers will gather at in the Addies St. Parking lot, parade to the Pier Plaza and each nation will present their national flag, sand from their nation and the contest will be officially kicked off. We’ll need volunteer for, Booth support, set up tear down, night security and more.
Dec. 5th-11th Contest Days!!! All the athletes, coaches and trainers will be in the house and the athletes will start battling wave by wave to see who will win gold in each division and which country will bring home over all Gold, Silver and Bronze. We will need volunteer for, water safety, booth support, judging spotters and tabulators, Wheelchair transfers, runners, night security and more.
Dec. 11th will finish with the closing ceremonies about 1 hour after the last heats finish and after the closing ceremonies we’ll get started on tearing everything down.
Dec. 12th – Contest tear down. We’ll need help making sure we get everything packed up and hauled out, so the beautiful Pismo Beach and pier area gets returned back to its pristine beauty. We’ll need Tear down staff, booth support, and more on this day.
