Chapman Estate
The Chapman Estate is located at 1243 Ocean Boulevard in Shell Beach. This hidden treasure is nestled in the heart of Shell Beach, conveniently located off Highway 101, and close to dozens of boutique hotels and resorts, restaurants, and shops.
The Tudor mansion was completed in 1930 by the Rogers family and has been an integral part of the Shell Beach community since Clifford Chapman purchased the property in 1962. He and Don Shidler, Chapman’s partner of almost 50 years, collected art and treasures from around the world that are now displayed in the house and on the grounds. Clifford Chapman’s generous gift of his Estate to the City of Pismo Beach enables the City and Chapman Estate Foundation to continue these valued traditions, to provide innovative cultural and artistic experiences while engaging patrons who wish to support the Estate, and to establish an exclusive venue for those who wish to host intimate get-togethers in the beautiful and quaint beach town of Pismo Beach.
Private Events
The Chapman Estate is the Central Coast’s most exclusive estate and private event venue. With breathtaking views of the Pacific, beautiful gardens, distinctive architecture, and a temperate climate during its open season, the Estate is the perfect location for weddings and private events. A limited number of events are permitted each year. As a cultural and historic site in the City of Pismo Beach, site fees for the Chapman Estate help sustain the integrity of this beautiful property and ensure its availability for the future.

Gates Open
The City of Pismo Beach welcomes the public to enjoy the Chapman Estate during Open Gates from April to October 2023. Reservations are not required for groups under 15 people. Unless otherwise posted outside the main gate, the Chapman Estate south gate is open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00 am-2:00 pm and Fridays from 5:00 pm-sunset. A $10 Entry Fee includes docent led tours of the gardens. Individual and Family Season Passes are available to purchase. House tours are not available currently.
