Within fifteen minutes of entering the California Mid-State Fair, where temperatures normally run somewhere between 85 and 100 degrees, I must have an icy cold beverage in one hand, and a steaming hot corn dog in the other.

It can’t be just any old fair corn dog, although I have to admit that there is no such thing as a bad one, some are just greasier. I always head straight for the official “Hot Dog On A Stick concession.” These are the people with the groovy red, yellow, blue and white uniforms that are synonymous with corn dog perfection.

At Hot Dog On A Stick you can get three things: Corn Dogs, Fried Cheese on a Stick, and fresh squeezed lemonade. A corn dog slathered in mustard washed down with fresh lemonade (or cold beer) is about as close to perfection as a meal can get and who doesn’t love eating food served on a stick?
